Major design price for Papilio with their rug 'Cyclo': the red dot award - product design 2011
Kuurne, Belgium. Cyclo from Papilio clearly convinced the judges: in the red dot design award, one of the most renowned international product competitions, Cyclo has now been awarded the "red dot" seal of quality for high design quality by the jury with its panel of highly respected experts.
'As always, our jury cast a very careful eye over the products submitted.
Design quality has asserted itself clearly in the judging process, with genuine and new creative solutions also being rewarded. Both of these criteria are not just yardsticks for good design, but also for the potential for success on the market.
This potential is increased several times over by the targeted use of our renowned design award",
says Professor Dr. Peter Zec, the initiator of the red dot design award.
This year, designers and companies from 60 countries entered 4,433 products in the red dot award: product design.'

Cyclo will be on display from 5 July to 1 August 2011 in the exhibition "Design on stage – winners red dot award: product design 2011" in the red dot design museum at the world heritage site of the Zeche Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen.

About 'Cyclo' from Papilio
The humble inner tube has been given a second life following it's enduring service in the world's most popular transportation mode, the bicycle.
Men and women collect from their local repair shops the worn tubes which would otherwise end up in land fill or slum neighbourhoods.
These tubes are slit and crafted into a woven structure. No chemicals nor finishing products are used in the manufacturing process resulting in a truly honest and eco-responsible recycled product.
Silent witnesses being the tube size markings still visible from the previous owner, left there to tell it's lifetime story.
The sturdy rug is also suitable for outdoor use.
